Charles B. Wang has made his mark as a resourceful and successful businessman/entrepreneur, a sports enthusiast who owns his own professional team and an extremely generous philanthropist.

Mr. Wang has been the Chairman of NeuLion, Inc. since October 2008. NeuLion, Inc. provides live and on-demand content to Internet connected devices. He has been an owner of the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League since July 2000. In 1976 he founded Computer Associates International, Inc. (“Computer Associates”), a provider of information technology management services now known as CA, Inc. and served as its Chairman until November 2002.

Philanthropy has always played a central role in Mr. Wang’s life. His family foundation, the Charles B. Wang International Foundation, focuses on children’s health, welfare, education, and culture. He also created the New York Islanders Children’s Foundation which is dedicated to supporting Long Island based non-profit organization that provide opportunities to children. Mr. Wang is the co-founder and Chairman of The Smile Train which has provided more than 1 million free, remedial surgeries to children throughout the world who were born with cleft lips and/or cleft palates. He sits on the board of several other non-profit organizations.

Mr. Wang has supported the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) for which they recognized his generosity by naming their headquarters in Alexandria, VA the Charles B. Wang International Children’s Building.

Mr. Wang has been strongly committed to the Asian American community supporting organizations such as the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, a model community health center, which provides quality, comprehensive and culturally effective primary health at locations in New York’s Chinatown and Flushing. He has also supported many educational institutions including making one of the largest private gifts in the history of the State University of New York (SUNY) system to Stony Brook University to build the Charles B. Wang Center which is dedicated to the advancement of cultural and educational exchange.

His support of Soochow University Kenneth Wang School of Law continues Mr. Wang’s commitment to both educational excellence and cultural exchange as well as recognizing his father Kenneth Wang’s deep regard for his alma mater. Mr. Wang is proud to have built the Kenneth Wang School of Law Building which blends both Chinese as well as western architecture representing the modernization of China while respecting traditions and history. The Kenneth Wang School of Law Scholarships have promoted quality education and research for which the school has been honored for these last 15 years. 

Mr. Wang was born in 1944 in Shanghai, China and moved to the United States with his family in 1952. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Queens College. He is married with three children. He is the author of TechnoVision: The Executive’s Survival Guide to Understanding and Managing Information Technology and Wok Like A Man, a cookbook of his favorite Chinese food recipes.
